All you need to supply your email address and a user name and we will send you an email listing new book reviews and other developments on this site. This is low volume service, currently once a month, and you can opt out at any time.


Our book reviews

However much information there is on the Internet, there's still a lot to be said for a good book. But how to choose among the hundreds on any given topic?
I-Programmer presents only trusted book reviews. You can be sure that the review hasn't been written by the author or a publisher in disguise – all our reviewers are professionals with no vested interest but with a real interest in and knowledge of programming topics.

If you are mainly interested in book reviews then you might like to consider for a moment the best way to make use of the information we provide. For simplicity we provide a final overall rating but, before you are tempted to simply view the rating and make a decision you need to keep in mind that ratings are a very crude measure. If you read the review you should find that it clarifies the rating in terms of what the reviewer thought about the material and the presentation. In some cases you would be perfectly right to disagree with the reviewer if the approach or content of a book happened to fit in with what you were looking for or if you really hated such things. Reviewing is always a personal occupation and a rating isn't a final word just a guide.

Buying a book
If you find a book that you like then by all means order it from your favourite bookshop but if like us one of your favourite bookshops is Amazon then simply click on the "buy from Amazon" button below the picture of the book cover at the top right of the review. If you can't see a book cover then you need to customise the site by selecting your region, either click on the grey area where the book cover should be or click on the Change Region mainI menu option, where you will be presented with a range of Amazon stores that we will then use to retrieve price and other information. You can change your region at any time in the same way. If you buy a book using this facility you will use your usual Amazon account and we will receive a vanishingly small reward which helps to pay for the hosting of the site :-)
