C++ Quiz Tests & Improves Programming Skills

CppQuiz.org is home to an interactive quiz with questions that test your understanding of the C++ 11 standard. Not only can you answer the questions, you can add questions of your own.

Officially launched this month, the website has been created by C++ programmer and language enthusiast, Anders Schau Knatten.

On his blog, C++ on a Friday, Knatten relates how he initiated it while on a conference trip working on it in a hotel room, on a train and in a plane. After "a few more days" it is not only functionally complete and stable but also tested since it's been in beta for a few weeks.

The quiz has questions at three levels of difficulty and has two modes - training mode in which questions are presented in random order and quiz mode which presents a specific set of 10 questions which means you can challenge your friends to take the same test.

In both modes you can request hints but in quiz mode they reduce the maximum score for an answer.  During training you get feedback that explains the answers which means that even if you get questions correct by guesswork you'll go away knowing the right approach.

You are also invited to provide more questions and guidelines are given about how to go about it - questions should be short, demonstrate a single point and explanations should also be short and to the point. Questions have to be moderated but several of those in the existing set have been contributed.

Programming is about problem solving and for programmers like testing their skills so this is a welcome resource and one where you can while away a train journey or perhaps some time waiting for the next build to complete.
