JBoss Enterprise Web Platform 5.0, designed to support lightweight Java applications, is the third and final component of JBoss Open Choice, Red Hat's middleware strategy.

JBoss Enterprise Web Platform 5.0 the third and final component of JBoss Open Choice, Red Hat's middleware strategy is now available. Designed to support lightweight Java applications by taking advantage of the new Java EE Web Profile it offers support for several open source frameworks, including Hibernate, Seam, Google Web Toolkit, RichFaces, the Spring Framework and Apache Struts.

The service-based architecture behind JBoss Open Choice aims to provide a consistent and modular series of enterprise deployment features for clustering, caching, transactions, web services, security and more, regardless of the selected programming model or deployment style used.

Open Choice enables Red Hat customers to select the application platforms that are appropriate for their applications:

  • Enterprise Application Platform for highly transactional Java EE applications;
  • Enterprise Web Platform for mid-sized, light and rich Java applications; and
  • Enterprise Web Server for simple Java workloads that only require enterprise Apache Tomcat.
