Actian has announced a bi-directional Hadoop data connector, to be available later this year, for its Vectorwise database.
The connector will provide a fast way to take unstructured Hadoop data into Vectorwise, work on it, then let that data be placed back into the Hadoop store or into other systems. The idea is that companies will be able to alternate between fast, highly concurrent interactive queries in Vectorwise versus bulk Hadoop data analysis.

The connector hasn’t been released yet; it is scheduled to become available for general download at the end of this year. The claim is that the Hadoop connector will provide the means to move data in near real-time in and out of analysis and into operational systems.
