Udacity's Offer To Recently Unemployed

Layoffs, across the board from major tech companies to struggling small businesses, are constantly in the news. Today Udacity has announced a special offer to help the recently unemployed professionals in the U.S. gain new skills that could help them land a new job.

The promotion is available only in the USA and is for a 30-day free trial of Udacity's All Access subscription which normally costs $249 per month (or $2,390 per year if you get hooked and prefer a plan at a 20% discount).

In her announcement of this offer, Victoria Papalian, Udacity's Chief Operation Officer refers to the fact that job cuts in the US in March 2024 were 7% up on February's figure and at their highest since January 2023 and continues:

At the same time, thousands of companies are hiring, with the Technology sector second only to the Energy sector for the most new positions announced in the first quarter of the year. There are opportunities out there! However, there is often a mismatch between open positions, sought after roles, skill sets, and locations.

Her argument for taking advantage of this offer is that given the increasing competition for jobs professionals who develop in-demand skills are qualified for more opportunities and are more likely to succeed in securing a new job in a short span of time, claiming:

Whether you’re an experienced programmer looking to branch out into the latest Generative AI platforms, a mid-career Data Analyst seeking to strengthen your portfolio, or a newcomer to coding who is ready to take the next step in your tech career – Udacity has a learning path with real-world projects for you.

The All Access subscription gives access to the entire Udacity catalog of over 300 Courses and over 80 Nanodegree programs. So given this free for one month its could be difficult to know where to start. Helpfully the blog post lists identifies options that could realistically be completed in that time span, starting with courses that take about 4 weeks to complete spending an average of 10 hours a week:

Being out of work gives you more time to study so the next courses on the list are 2-month Nanodegree programs that could complete in one month by devoting 20 hours per week to them:

Finally, if you are prepared to study on a full-time basis you could complete one of the following the 4-month Nanodegree programs during the free trial:

With just a few exceptions we have reported on all of the above courses and Nanodegree programs, see the links to Related Articles.

To qualify for this promotional offer you need to be in the U.S. and have been laid off in the past year. Register here and fill out the form to claim your 30-day free trial: udaciltybwan

While this promotion is only available to people laid off in the United States the courses and Nanodegree Programs listed above are open are normal to people still in work and those located in other parts of the world and Udacity currently has an offer to save 40% of the first month of a new subscription. But act quickly as it is open until May 4th. Use the offer code "MAY40" at checkout to receive 40% off the first month of your subscription purchase or 40% off of your multi-month bundle purchase.
