The price for the event is $595 and the registration site reminds you that space is limited. It also mentions there will be a limited number of need-based scholarships for accepted attendees.

The highlights to entice you include:

  • Keynote: Mark Zuckerberg will outline how Facebook is helping developers build, grow and monetize success

  • 40+ Sessions: Talks from Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Oculus, Instagram, advertising, engineering and more

  • Interactive Demos: featuring Oculus Rift and Touch and 360 video

  • Innovation Lab: sessions on how Facebook plan to improve connectivity, enhance infrastructure and scale artificial intelligence and virtual reality around the world

For those who attend in person the schedule includes an after party at the end of the first conference day with music, food and drinks and the opportunity to socialise with other developers. If you can't get to San Fransisco the keynote, sessions and interviews from the show floor will be available to stream. Register on the F8 video page to to watch the event live, for free.

Many Facebook developers are currently unhappy at the cavalier way in which Facebook suddenly announced the closure of Parse, its mobile app platform as a service. Parse, which had been heavily promoted at F8 over the past two years, was one of Fecebook's key developer services. In abandoning Parse with Facebook also lose the interest and commitment of its developer community and will this affect attendance at F8?
