Scriptkitty Dreams - Rights for Programmers!

We don't do kitten videos - but in this case we throw an exception to the wind. This one has a serious intent for programmers everywhere. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is known for many things - but kitten videos don't rank high in its achievements, until today.

Best viewed full screen so that you can read the code!

As the blurb says:

"EFF works tirelessly to protect programmers and developers engaged in cutting-edge tech exploration through our Coders' Rights Project. Become a member of EFF today to help us in the fight for coders' rights!

Do it for the kittens!"

So there are several deep and burning questions that have to be asked.

  • What does this have to do with the "Fight for Coder' Rights"?

  • Does the kitten prefer a Mac?

  • Could the kitten's code be improved?

  • Is that a buffer overflow attack?

  • And most important of all - why does the text display sound like a typewriter?

Some of the comments about the video, question whether kitty coders are an appropriate way to convey the gravitas of the EFFs aims and values. While there is no doubt that the video isn't exactly on topic it looks as though it was a lot of fun to make. The 3D animations were done with the help of SketchUp, which recently changed hands from Google to Trimble - let's hope that this doesn't dampen creativity.

Whatever the answers, you might like to take up the challenge and join the Electronic Frontier Foundation. As it says - Do it for the Kittens!
