New Relics Insights analytics platform, which lets you collect, store and present all your software, business and customer data in real time has moved out of private beta and is now generally available.

Insights was originally announced in March and while in beta it has been used by more than 6,000 New Relic customers spanning industries including ecommerce, manufacturing, insurance, education, entertainment, real estate, healthcare and publishing.

To mark its emergence from beta a companion iOS mobile app has been released to give customers continuous access to data insights on the go.

Delivered as a cloud-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering built atop New Relic's custom-built Big Data database platform, New Relic Insights empowers application developers, IT operations and business users alike to make ad hoc and iterative queries across trillions of data points and metrics and get answers in milliseconds.

For more information about how it works under the hood see Ian Elliot's article Analytics As A Service.

If you are not a New Relic customer you can try Insights in a free 14-day trial of both the analytics platform and APM, New Relic's flagship application performance management solution, which Ian Elliot has also explored, see Deep Monitor Your Site. This trial will provide you with 7 days worth of Insights historical data.

If you are already a paid customer of New Relic you can have have one day of historical data in New Relic Insights at no charge. For more historical data, you'll need a paid account. Pricing is based on the number of events you store and starts at $250/month and also requires a paid account for New Relic APM.
