Google's Android phone and its spread is a remarkable achievement. From its original launch in the USA and UK in October 2008 it is now used across the globe and the average number of daily activations now stands at 350,000.
This video, produced by Google, is an impressive display of how Android activations have increased. Its first display covers the entire Android lifetime with a global map, giving a countdown to two dramatic events - the launch of the Motorola Droid and the Samsung Galaxy S. The second map, North America, the effect of the Droid launch is even more amazing and in Europe and East Asia the Galaxy S is the more important event as the final two maps indicate.
