Appdome has announced a pre-built integration between its Cyber Defense Automation platform and GitLab as well as a new Build-to-Test option to enable mobile developers to streamline the testing of cybersecurity features in mobile apps.

Appdome's cyber defense automation platform protects mobile apps with runtime application self-protection (RASP), code obfuscation, mobile data encryption, jailbreak/root detection, man-in-the-middle attack prevention, as well as protections to stop on-device malware, fraud, cheat and bot. No coding or SDK is required to be added to the app by developers.

Appdome's no code, no SDK Build-2Secure Integration for GitLab is a GitLab CI/CD integration that lets mobile developers automate the build, signing, and certification of security and anti-fraud in Android and iOS apps in GitLab CI/CD pipelines. It  automates three steps in delivering more secure mobile applications. It firstly can be used to build app-level protections into mobile apps, then supports code signing of the protected mobile app, and finally certifying the security of each protected mobile app. The integration can be used as a stand-alone DevSecOps integration or in combination with other DevSecOps integrations in your CI/CD pipeline.

GitLab CI/CD is designed to catch bugs and errors early in the development cycle, and to provide developers with a way of ensuring that all the code deployed to production complies with the code standards established for the app. GitLab CI/CD can automatically build, test, deploy, and monitor your applications by using Auto DevOps.

The new integration is part of Appdome's Dev2Cyber Partner initiative to accelerate delivery of secure mobile apps globally. The integration opens the option of using GitLab to include elements of Appdome's mobile app security, anti-fraud, anti-malware, anti-cheat and other cyber defenses into Android and iOS apps, according to Karen Hsu, SVP of Mobile DevOps and Security Solutions at Appdome.

Another new feature that has been added to Appdome’s automation system is advanced app testing. Appdome-protected mobile apps have always been testable on devices made available through automated mobile application testing vendors but now Appdome has released its new Build-to-Test automated testing option. Advantages of the new Build-to-Test feature include:

  • Fully automated testing for Appdome-protected mobile apps
  • Fully automated mobile app testing services to validate cyber defenses in Appdome protected mobile apps
  • Reduced complexity when testing protected mobile apps in automated environments
  • Eliminates the need to test protected and unprotected builds separately
  • Protect test builds with Appdome defenses to ensure improved DevSecOps compliance.

The Build-to-Test option is available with Appdome-DEV and Appdome-SRM licenses and compatible with all major mobile app testing services including Microsoft App Center, Sauce Labs, BitBar, LambdaTest and BrowserStack to reduce time to market, improve app quality and increase pipeline efficiency.
