Google+ Page For Android Developers

Over 35,000 people have already demonstrated support for  the new Android Developer Google+ page - which makes you wonder why it took so long to create.

When Google+ first launched in beta in Summer 2011, only individuals could create pages and have circles, then in early November, Google extended this facility to other entities such as businesses and groups.

I-Programmer was quick to take up this opportunity so it came as a bit of a surprise to discover that it had taken until the end of January 2012 for there to be a Google+ page for the Android Developer website.

Once the word spread, Android devs have been quick to respond. Within a few hours 7000 developers had +1'd it or added it to their circles. Now, less that 4 days from launch that figure stands at over 35,000 with over 30,000 adding it to circles, which means they automatically see posts.

One of the advantages of the Google+ page is to know about and join in hangouts with members of the Android developer relations, product, engineering, and design teams.

Although hangouts already happened prior to the inception of the Google+ page this week, they are now more accessible and people can ask questions in advance so they can be better streamlined. Yesterday's was so popular another one has been scheduled for today.
