On-Android IDE for Android Developers

An Android Java IDE called AIDE has been developed that frees you from the need to program on a desktop PC by letting you code instead on Android devices.

AIDE has been available for download in beta format for a couple of weeks now and has already been downloaded by over 30,000 beta testers.

While the ability to code on an Android phone may be limited to changing a few lines while you’re on the train, the IDE does provide the means to develop on an Android tablet, particularly in conjunction with an external keyboard.

AIDE lets you stay on the native device for the full edit-compile-run cycle. The IDE includes an editor with features including code completion for Java and XML, syntax highlighting, real-time error checking, refactoring and smart code navigation.

AIDE is also fully compatible with projects started in Eclipse, though it does not include any Eclipse technology. You can simply load the Eclipse project in AIDE and continue working on it.
