Android top for popularity - iPhone makes more money

While Android is the most popular platform on the Millennial Media network, iOS performs better in terms of revenue.

The latest monthly report from Millennial Media, a company that places advertising on mobile devices, notes that in April 2010 the top 20 mobile phones on its network were smartphones and for first time no feature phones were included. Smartphone impressions had grown 51%.since April 2010. 

 

In all 68% of impressions were placed on smartphones (with the remainder divided equally between feature phones and connected devices - tablets and games consoles). In terms of impressions Android maintained its position as the leading smartphone OS for the fifth consecutive month and having increased its impression share by 10% since March, had a 53% share during April 2011.

However in terms of revenue 50% came from iOS apps (compared to 39% for Android), which represented a 6% month-over-month growth for Apple.
