Google has "dropped", in the new sense of the term which means "launched", Gemini 3 Flash, the latest Google model. The Gemini team says Gemini 3 offers frontier intelligence and is built for speed at a fraction of the cost. Google originally used the name Gemini for its conversational chatbot originally known as Bard, and more recently for its multimodal large language model (LLM) developed by Google DeepMind. Gemini 3 Flash is the latest incarnation of the LLM.
Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Deep Think were released last month. Gemini Pro is designed for complex tasks that take longer and need greater depth. It provides greater reasoning depth, multi-modal support, and agentic planning. Gemini 3 Deep Think is aimed at problems that require creativity, strategic planning, and making improvements step-by-step. Gemini 3 Flash is the option for users who want a faster and more affordable choice for most real‑time and high‑volume applications. The developers say that since the release of Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Deep Think mode, Google has been processing over 1T tokens per day on its API - or put another way 1,000 gigabytes (GB) or approximately one trillion bytes, Gemini 3 is described as combining Gemini 3's Pro-grade reasoning with Flash-level latency, efficiency and cost. The product is now the default for developers in the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, Gemini CLI and Google's new agentic development platform, Google Antigravity. It is also the model behind the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search, and for enterprises in Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. Google says that Gemini 3 Flash is able to modulate how much it thinks; it may think longer for more complex use cases, but it also uses 30% fewer tokens on average than 2.5 Pro, as measured on typical traffic. They say it outperforms 2.5 Pro while being 3x faster (based on Artificial Analysis benchmarking), and is cheaper. Gemini 3 Flash is priced at $0.50/1M input tokens and $3/1M output tokens (audio input remains at $1/1M input tokens). Gemini 3 Flash is available now in Google products.
