Developers working on HTML5 apps are invited to submit them to a competition with a prize fund of $50,000.

The contest is being run to promote OpenCandy's new release of Pokki, a desktop application platform that combines an interface where end users can access apps and notifications; a framework that you can use to create desktop apps; and an app store. All entries submitted to the contest must also be approved for the app store so the competition should result in lots of new Pokkies for users.

The competition runs until November 15, and entries can be written by teams of between one and three developers. To enter the competition, you need to download the Pokki Platform, create your HTML5 desktop app, and upload it through the Pokki developer console before the deadline. It will also need to be approved for the Pokki store to qualify for the competition.

According to the contest website, the judges will be scoring all entries on a variety of criteria including utility, appearance, user experience, uniqueness, and quality. In addition to the top prize of $30,000, there are second and third prizes of $13,000 and $7,000.
