Google has created the Google Developer Program "to help developers build, learn and grow". The program will give developers access to a range of new tools and benefits such as technical assistance from Gemini. The program is open to developers worldwide and is free to join. The Gemini assistance means developers will have access to an AI chat interface in a number of Google's products and services with components for developers, including Google for Developers, Firebase, and Google Cloud. The aim is to make the documentation more understandable, to generate sample code and troubleshoot issues. There will be: "clear, natural language explanations to code snippets". The assistance will also let developers try a wide range of Google APIs without coding so that they can test functionality and observe results. The program will also increase the number of workspaces available in Project IDX, Google's AI-assisted, cloud-based workspace for multi-platform app development. Members of the program, can access up to five workspaces in Project IDX, three more than is standard. Members will also be eligible for cloud learning credits if they join the Google Cloud Innovators program. The no-cost interactive labs credits for the Google Cloud Skills Boost learning platform will provide access to training and skill development resources for Google Cloud tech. Developers will be able to use credits to access real Google Cloud environments, where they can practice their cloud skills in a safe and dynamic space. The credits can be used against any new Cloud training learning path, including achieving shareable skills badges. Members will also be able to apply to join Google sponsored groups such as the Cloud Innovators program, communities of other developers and experts with events and resources. Google says that over the next few months new tools and resources will be added to help developers, including additional training resources and more ways to connect with the community. To access these benefits, developers need to enrol in the Google Developer Program, where they'll be able to sign up to training, organize their work, track their progress, earn badges, and share their achievements.
