Get Job-Ready With Scrimba

The online learn-to-code platform, Scrimba, is running an end of year campaign until January 4th offering a 30% discount on its Scrimba Pro Annual plan for new subscribers.

The standout feature of Scrimba is its proprietary technology called "Scrims." Unlike a YouTube video where you just watch someone else type, a Scrim is an interactive recording. At any point, you can pause the video and start typing directly into the instructor's code editor. Once you're done experimenting, you can hit play, and the video resumes exactly where you left off.

To encourage active participation, every lesson includes "challenges" where the video pauses and asks you to solve a problem.

While there's plenty of free content to get you started in JavaScript and web development on Scrimba, once you get beyond the introductory material you'll need to go Pro. Scrimba's standard pricing for US-based users is $49 per month or $294 per year, which means you get 6 months free by choosing annual! Note that the pricing automatically adapts to your country location to make it affordable wherever you live. What's more if you sign up to Scrimba with this link you'll get 20% off all Scrimba Pro Plans whenever you upgrade.

As well as standalone courses at introductory and advanced level, Scrimba has four career paths -  structured curricula designed to take you from zero to job-ready.

The coices are:

  • Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and UI Design

  • Fullstack: Node.js, Express, Databases, and Next.js

  • AI: Working with LLMs, Mistral AI, and building AI-driven apps

  • Backend: Command Line, Node.js, Web Architecture and APIs. Databases and SQL, Git, and TypeScript, plus two key backend frameworks, Express and Nest.

In this video, Per Bergen discusses which of the paths you should choose:

The Career Paths require a Pro plan and, until January 4th, new subscribers can take advantage of a 30% discount for an Annual Plan.

Happy coding!
