To celebrate 30 years of MySQL, Oracle has launched a promotional initiative that grants free training and certifications. The offer runs from April 20 to July 31, 2025.

It is comprised of four distinct units:

MySQL Essentials
On database design, installation, security, backup, replication, high availability, and MySQL HeatWave for integrated transactions, analytics, and machine learning.

MySQL for Database Administration
On how to configure MySQL Server, set up replication and security, perform backups and recoveries, optimize query performance, and configure high availability.

MySQL for Developers
On how to build console and web applications using MySQL with PHP, Java, or Python, covering database access, querying, data presentation, and MySQL's support for JSON and spatial data.

HeatWave MySQL Essentials
On how to manage and optimize HeatWave MySQL service in the cloud, covering instance creation, database transfer, backups, troubleshooting, and high availability features for efficient performance management.

All classes include multiple choice "skills checks" and by completing each of them you can also opt to get certified by taking part in the following exams, collectively or individually:

• 1Z0-922: MySQL Implementation Associate
• 1Z0-908: MySQL 8.0 Database Administrator
• 1Z0-909: MySQL 8.0 Database Developer
• 1Z0-915-1: MySQL HeatWave Implementation Associate - Rel 1

Be prepared to invest quite some time in the materials, since the effort required spans from 2 hours for HeatWave to the maximum of 31 hours for the Database Developer learning path. The journey ranges from installing and upgrading MySQL, configuring backups, setting up replication and high-availability, to deploying MySQL architecture and design, to developing data-driven applications with JSON document stores, connectors and spatial data, as well as learning how to be improving the performance of your applications.

Keep in mind that this is official Oracle material and not some third party's. As such you can expect the usual Oracle stellar quality.
