New Look For Amazon Developer Console

Amazon has provided a new user interface for the Developer Portal console to give devs easy access to popular services together with quick links to technical documentation, support, and search.

It is almost exactly a year ago since we reported Redesign For Amazon Developer Portal which coincided with the introduction of the Amazon Appstore for Android. This year's refresh introduces a new header and footer to improve the user experience.

For those not familiar with the Amazon Developer Portal, it:

hosts services and technologies that make it easy to build for and monetize on Amazon devices.

Once logged in to your account you'll find Notifications and Announcements at the top of your Dashboard, followed by sections for Alexa, the Android App store, Dash replenishment services - for re-ordering a wide variety of products - and Amazon GameOn, which allows developers to create competitions and leaderboards within their games. The final service on the Dashboard is Login with Amazon, which allows users to login to registered third party websites or apps (clients) using their Amazon user name and password.

The new header lets developers bypass the Dashboard. It  provides access to both Alexa Skills and Alexa Voice from a single Alexa tab:

At the far left of the header, next to the initials of the developer who is currently logged in, the question mark gives access to Amazon's Tech Docs, Forums, Support and Contact Us in the Support Center and the search provides easy discovery of app and game development topics within developer console.

The new footer has language switching options - with Japanese and Chinese being the alternatives to English - and a pop-up menu which adds quick access to Amazon Web Service (AWS) as well as to Alexa, the Appstore and Dash Services. amazondevportalfooter

The footer also lets you open the Amazon Developer Blog and has a Contact Us facility - although this does try to redirect you to posting questions on the appropriate Amazon Developer Forum.

All-in-all this year's refresh of the portal is mainly cosmetic, but does provide quick access to most of the facilities Amazon developers want to use on a regular basis.
