If you've not come across Google Developer Groups (GDGs) before, they are:

open and volunteer organised geek communities who create exciting projects and share experiences about Google technologies with a passion.

One of the main purposes of a GDG is to hold DevFests, events for learning about Google’s technologies that are inspired by and  tailored to the needs of the local developer community. If you consult the map of DevFests you'll find there are currently 736 events worldwide, hosted by over 500 communities.

According to the GDG DevFest website:

While no two DevFests will be exactly alike, each at its core is powered by a shared belief that when developers come together to exchange ideas, amazing things can happen.

In December developers will be able to enjoy a DevFest without leaving their home or office in the inaugural official DevFest OnAir which has exclusive content from Google.

There are three separate concurrent tracks: Cloud; Mobile; Voice, Web & more. Sessions cover multiple products such as Android, Google Cloud Platform, Firebase, Google Assistant, Flutter, machine learning with TensorFlow, and mobile web.

There are also three broadcasts. The first is timed to be convenient for the AMER region and lasts 4 hours, the next is for APAC and lasts 5 hours and the final one for EMEA is 3 hours - but as it's online you can tune in to whichever one you want and 48 hours after the event registered developers can view the videos.

There will be a live Q&A forum throughout the online event to spark conversation and get you the answers you need and there's a promise of:

interactive trivia during DevFest OnAir where you can receive something special!
