Coursera For Positive Professional and Personal Outcomes
Tuesday, 20 January 2026

For a few more days at the beginning of 2026,  Coursera has a special offer - 50% off a Coursera Plus annual subscription. Very worthwhile if you love learning new skills or keeping your existing skills up to date. But don't take my word for it. Results of the 2025 Coursera Learner Outcomes Report, show 91% achieved positive career outcomes

and 95% positive personal benefits.

After having conducted research in-house for the Coursera Learner Outcomes Report 2023 with a web survey of 55,648 respondents who had completed a Coursera course or micro credential between June 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022, Coursera, enlisted the help of The Harris Poll for its 2025 report.

The aim of the online survey was to reveal:

the impact that Coursera and its worldclass university and industry partners are having on learners throughout their professional development journey.

The survey was completed by 52,862 global learners (among which 45,708 were learning for career-related reasons). 98% of respondents reported that learning on Coursera impacted their learning in a positive way, including 70% who said that the platform provided access to learning opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. Examples of this include having greater access to a wide range of learning opportunities (49%), learning from otherwise inaccessible universities or companies (37%), and being able to learn despite the absence of local in-person options (33%).

CLO age

As indicated by the graph, the majority of the respondents were in the early stage of their careers and the motivation for learning with Coursera was primarily career-related.

CLO goal

The report found that 91% achieved at least one positive career outcome by completing their course or program on Coursera and 67% achieved two or more career outcomes. As well as gaining employment having previously been unemployed and gaining a new job, 46% of all learners reported a salary increase (51% for those gaining Professional Certificates; and 27% (1 in 4) reported moving to a higher job level post-completion.

Comparing these findings with those of the previous Learner Outcomes Report, when I reported that 77% of learners reported career benefits, 29% said it helped them get a raise, and 25% said it helped them advance in their current role, shows an increase in satisfaction with the Coursera platform.

The report also revealed additional benefits from learning on Coursera:

Beyond career gains, learning fostered personal growth, often changing learners’ mindsets about what they can achieve. Their newfound confidence and self-assurance can serve as powerful catalysts, paving the way for career advancements and opportunities.

Backing up this statement with figures:

  • 95% reported at least one personal benefit by completing their course or program on Coursera, 74% reported multiple personal benefits

  • 52% felt more accomplished or fulfilled, with 43% reporting they have more opportunities for career growth

  • 96% said learning on Coursera led to increased confidence, whether in their career or in themselves

The survey also looked into learners' experience of Coursera Coach, the AI Assistant introduced in 2023. Functioning as a personalized tutor, Coach grounds answers in course content and is seen to deliver positive outcomes with 94% of learners who used Coach saying that it improved their learning experience. Its  benefits include "Easier comprehension of complex concepts"; "More interactive, engaging learning" and "Better retention of course material." Coursera Coach is available as part of you Coursera Plus subscription and will help you make the most of your learning, whatever you want to learn.

So if you are looking to start 2026 by acquiring new skills or updating your existing ones, act quickly. Coursera is currently offering 50% off a Plus annual subscription for just a few more days!
